Philosophy
Beautifully tart with a dark burgundy hue, balaton cherries are a familiar sight on Old Mission Peninsula. Earning the title, “Cherry Capital of the World”, Traverse City farmers have been growing tart cherries for over 150 years. Winemaker Sean O’Keefe ensured that the same amount of care was given to our debut cherry wine as our grape wines receive, focusing on the important balance between naturally occurring sugar and classic tart cherry vibrancy. Owner Marty Lagina is depicted on the label, harvesting one of Northern Michigan’s best treasures.
Flavor Notes
Refreshingly tart fruit is balanced by a natural sweetness, preserving the hallmark characteristics of ripe balaton cherries. Juicy cherry and red plum notes are layered with baking spice aromas.
